A GIFT GUIDE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TIRED OF GIVING CANDLES - Liminal Puzzle Co

A GIFT GUIDE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TIRED OF GIVING CANDLES

Here is a list of gifts I have personally received multiple times as an adult:

A candle. Another candle. A "spa set" from a gas station. A gift card to a restaurant I mentioned once in 2019. A picture frame with no picture in it. Chocolate from the airport.

I'm not ungrateful. I'm inspired. Inspired to do better.

A Liminal Puzzle Co puzzle is the kind of gift people open and immediately say "oh, this is cool." Not the polite "oh, how thoughtful." The genuine, surprised, I-did-not-expect-this "oh, this is cool."

Here's how to match the right one to the right human.

For the Person Who Claims They're "Too Busy" for Hobbies

Owl / Chronicles of Boulder — 143 pieces, $75

Perfect. This is their on-ramp. 143 pieces is an hour, maybe two. It's approachable enough that someone who "doesn't have time" will try it, finish it, and immediately look up our website.

This is the puzzle that converts skeptics. It has a 100% success rate among people who "don't really do puzzles."

(That's not a real statistic. But it feels true.)

For the Person Who Has Opinions About Art

Unicorn's Paradise — 298 pieces, $85

Original artwork by Hannah Bunzey. Rich, dreamy, magical even. Genuinely beautiful. The kind of image that makes you slow down and actually look at it.

For someone who follows illustrators on Instagram, buys prints, has feelings about color palettes — this puzzle is not a puzzle, it's an art object. Give them this and they will think you really get them.

You're welcome. Take full credit.

For the Plant Person

Orchid — 380 pieces, $85 or
Sunflowers — 224 pieces, $75

You know who they are. They name their plants. They talk to their plants. They have feelings when a plant dies that are disproportionate to the situation and completely valid.

Orchid is lush, intricate, a longer commitment. Sunflowers is warm and celebratory — perfect for a birthday or a "just because" kind of gift. Either one is going straight into a frame when they're done.

For the Couple

Listen. Dinner and a movie is fine. But "doing a puzzle together" is actually an underrated relationship activity. No phones. No passive television. Real conversation. Light bickering about whether a piece goes there or there. Genuine teamwork.

Unicorn's Paradise or Orchid — both have enough going on that two people can work different sections at once. Get them a puzzle, a bottle of wine, and a gold star for being a thoughtful gift-giver.

For the Person Who Has Everything

First of all: they do not have a Liminal puzzle. Problem solved.

Second: include a note that explains why you chose it. Tell them about the artist. Tell them about the hand-drawn whimsy pieces hidden inside. Give them the story.

A gift with a story is worth three gifts without one. That's just science.

Gifting Tips That Will Save You Stress

Don't wait. Small-batch means limited quantities. If you see something you love, get it. The "I'll come back to it" move has ended many a gifting season in tragedy. It's like going to Costco, but different.

The packaging is already beautiful. Our boxes are designed to be given. You can wrap it, bag it, or hand it over as-is and look like you tried very hard. We will even gift wrap it for you and you can take the credit (again).

Think about framing. Our puzzles are frameable. Grab a puzzle frame in the matching size and suddenly you've given someone art AND an activity. Two gifts. One person. Maximum impact.

You've been giving candles for years.

It's time.
